Curtis began his true journey into acting when lured to an audition for Shakespeare in the Park’s Romeo & Juliet by his best friend. It was nothing more than a fun excuse to hang out with each other for the summer before heading to college. Curtis was surprised and honored to receive the role of Mercutio and spent the summer with his friend learning lines and sword/combat choreography. A joy was sparked within him that summer that he chased all the way to New York City with his life savings, putting his college education on hold.
In NYC, Curtis gained traction, landing an agent, a manager and a few acting gigs. Tragically, however, a few days after being offered the lead role in an Off-Off Broadway play, he was mugged and physically assaulted, landing him in the hospital. Physically, he recovered, but financially, he struggled, ultimately calling it quits and moving back home.
With a new sense of priority, he reapplied and was accepted once again to the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown where he gained his B.S. Degree in Elementary Education. All the while using any extra time to perform in plays, musicals, and even travelling to Pittsburgh on occasion to act in films.
After graduation, Curtis taught for five years. Spending two years as a 4th grade teacher and three years as an ESL (English as a Second Language) Specialist. During this time, his passion for theater and film was stifled by his drive to be the best teacher he could possibly be.
Now, Curtis has made a home in Pittsburgh, PA and is currently striving to make acting his main focus, collaborating with other creative and forward-thinking minds to create thought-provoking and entertaining films and series.
